Ans. The states in north  – east are so green as they get heavy rain.

2. What is the difference between jhoom and terrace farming  ?

Ans. In jhoom cultivation farmers clear a plot by burning them and after farming on the plot for few years,they move to next plot so that the previous plot becomes fertile again. This cycle is repeated. 

When flat areas on a slope are made into terraces or steps for farming, then it is called terrace farming. 

3. Name the neighbouring countries the north – eastern states share a border with. 

Ans. The neighbouring countries that the north  – eastern states share a border with are Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Ans. Farming and small scale industries are the common occupations of the people in the north  – eastern states. 

5. Why is there a fruit preservation industry in these states  ?

Ans. There is a fruit preservation industry in these states as lots of fruits grow there.
